Privacy Policy

Overview

HormoneWise is a health and wellness app designed with privacy as its foundation. We believe your menstrual cycle data, menopause symptoms, and health information are among the most personal data you have. That is why HormoneWise processes everything entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, store, or have access to any of your health data.

Health Data Collected

HormoneWise stores the following health data locally on your device only:

Cycle records — Period start/end dates, cycle length, period length, irregularity flags
Daily entries — Mood, energy level, sleep quality, flow intensity, pain level, hot flash count and severity, weight, and free-text notes
Symptom logs — 33+ symptom types with severity and timestamps
Medications — Name, type, dosage, frequency, start/end dates (including HRT)
AI-generated insights — Cached locally for performance; regenerated from your data on-device
Clinician reports — Generated on-device and stored locally until you choose to share them

This data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework in your device's app container. It is protected by iOS data protection and your device passcode/biometrics.

Apple Health Integration

If you grant permission, HormoneWise can read the following from Apple Health:

Basal body temperature
Heart rate variability (HRV)
Resting heart rate
Menstrual flow data

This data is read from Apple Health on-device and is never transmitted anywhere. HormoneWise does not write data back to Apple Health. You can revoke Health access at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.

On-Device AI

HormoneWise uses Apple Foundation Models to generate health insights, daily tips, symptom analysis, and clinician reports. This AI processing happens entirely on your device using Apple's built-in machine learning framework. No data is sent to any AI service, cloud API, or external server.

Data We Do NOT Collect

No user accounts or sign-ups
No email addresses or personal identifiers
No analytics or usage tracking
No advertising identifiers or ad SDKs
No third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.)
No crash reporting services
No cookies or web tracking
No location data
No network requests containing health data

Third-Party Services

HormoneWise does not connect to any third-party APIs or services. The app functions entirely offline. The only network activity is Apple's StoreKit framework for processing in-app purchases through the App Store, which is handled by Apple and does not include any health data.

Data Sharing

HormoneWise provides two optional ways to share your data, both initiated entirely by you:

CSV Export — You can export your data as a CSV file via the iOS share sheet. The file is created locally and only leaves your device when you explicitly share it.
Clinician Reports — You can generate a PDF report for your healthcare provider. The report is created on-device and only shared when you use the share sheet.

In both cases, HormoneWise has no knowledge of whether or where you share the exported file.

Data Storage & Security

All data is stored in your device's app container using Apple SwiftData
Data is protected by iOS Data Protection (encrypted at rest when device is locked)
No cloud sync, no iCloud backup of health data, no remote storage
User preferences are stored in UserDefaults (life stage, notification settings, theme)
Widget data is shared via App Group UserDefaults (symptom score and hot flash count only)

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time:

In-app — Settings > Data Management > Delete All Data permanently removes all cycle records, daily entries, symptom logs, medications, insights, and reports
Uninstall — Deleting the app removes all data from your device. No residual data exists on any server.

Children's Privacy

HormoneWise does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app does not require or support account creation. It is compliant with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and GDPR requirements for minors.

International Users

Because HormoneWise processes all data on-device and does not transmit data to any server, there are no cross-border data transfers. Your data stays on your device regardless of your location. This architecture is inherently compliant with GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, and other data protection regulations.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date above and publish the revised policy on this page. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes on the App Store.
